The Emerging Institutions Fellowship Program (EIFP) provides hands-on service opportunities for
emerging young business and development leaders from around the world at Africa’s leading for-profit
and nonprofit firms. Fellows collaborate with these firms to work on financial inclusion for marginalized entrepreneurs, social enterprise and international development projects.
Landmark Development Initiative (LDI Africa is a nonprofit social enterprise that builds the capacity of African corporations, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations to compete in the global marketplace through the service of skilled volunteers.
Headquartered in Washington D.C USA, and working all across Africa, LDI Africa deploys the talents of young African Diaspora and youth citizens from outside of the continent to nonprofits and small businesses that are struggling to attract skilled professionals. Unlike other programs, LDI Africa provides young and aspiring professionals around the world with the desired platform to deploy their unique skills and overseas experience to help turnaround small businesses, schools, profit and nonprofit organizations, thus making Africa, and the world at large a better place for all.
The EIFP is designed to match financial capital invested in emerging African businesses with the human capital needed to take these institutions to scale.
Fellow Profile
- Two to 10 years of professional experience.
- MBA candidate or early to mid-level professional with familiarity in emerging markets.
- Professional background in business, management consulting, strategy, finance, and social enterprise and international development.
- Fellows are interested in building a career in Africa after the fellowship.

Placement and Fellow Selection
Consideration for coveted LDI Africa Fellowships is based largely on the following criteria:
Preference for mid-level professionals, graduates of MBA or Development programs
- A keen interest in sustainable development of businesses in Africa.
- Demonstrable knowledge and skills in one of the following areas:
- Management/ Strategy Consulting
- Enterprise Development/ Finance
- Social Enterprise/Entrepreneurship/International Development
- Private Equity/ Venture Capital/Impact Investing
