What: Youth for Peace Workshop Celebrating Diversity, Reaching Humanity

When: September 11th – 15th 2014

The International institute of Peace and Development Studies (IIPDS) in cooperation with ARF – AMAN is organizing “Youth for Peace Training Workshop” scheduled 11-15 September, 2014 in Bangkok. Target groups of the workshop are Young leaders, scholars, teachers, post graduate students, NGO and social workers, and anyone else with a keen interest in peacebuilding creatively.

The Course aims to provide an understanding of peace and conflict. As a student/professional, participants will gain and build up the knowledge and skills in promoting peace. The course includes various sessions on relevant issues and exposure visit. The goal of the course is to create a new generation of young peacebuilders for peace, solidarity and sustainable development in Asia.

 

Participants

  • 30 young peace activists who are engaged in peace and development works across the globe
  • Applicants from those countries where there is no Royal Thai Consulate are recommended to apply  early for the course, as the visa processing will take longer time

Eligibility Criteria

  • Below 30 year of age
  • Socially engaged in peace and development works
  • Good command on English
  • Possess a leadership quality and potential to become a trainer
  • Applicant will continue to work for Peace Activity after graduation from this course

  • Team building, Group Dynamics and Discovering peace
  • Conflict & Violence and Conflict Analysis Tools
  • Exposure Visit
  • Group work and Critical Thinking Theory
  • Gender and Peace Building & Conflict in Transition
  • Peace, Reconciliation & Development
  • Simulation on Inter-faith Dialogue and Human Rights and Peace
  • Community Work, Ethical Peace Building, Networking and Follow up Action

Costs

  • Course Registration Fee: 100 USD
  • IIPS do not provide participants airfare and visa expenses. Successful participant are  responsible for their travels and visa expenses.
  • Local transportation, accommodation and foods are covered by IIPS during the  workshop training.
