2015 Association of South African Women in Science and Engineering (SAWISE) Scholarships for South African Female Students.

SAWISE Angus Scholarship: 30th of November 2014

SAWISE Hope Scholarship: 15th of November.

WHOM:

  • The scholarship is tenable at South African universities.

The Association of South African Women in Science and Engineering (SAWISE) and The Hope Network invites female students entering their Honours level/ 4th year of study to apply for the above scholarship. Two scholarships are offered:

  • SAWISE Angus Scholarship and
  • SAWISE Hope Scholarship for pursuing 4th year [e.g. BSc (Honors) or equivalent] of study at tertiary level.

Eligibility criteria include for SAWISE Angus Scholarship include:
i. A sub-Saharan black female.
ii. Must have achieved 70% or above grade average in her subject of study.
iii. Only for studies at Honours level (or 4th year equivalent e.g. in engineering).
iv. In any field of science and engineering.

Applications for these scholarships must include hard copies of the following:
1. Curriculum vitae.
2. An official academic transcript (record).
3. A letter of motivation (~350 words).
4. A certified copy of your ID.
5. For the Angus Scholarship, a completed application form.

Please note – only hard copies of the documents will be accepted and these should be mailed to: P.O. Box 34085, Rhodes Gift, Cape Town, 7707 to arrive before 30 November. If you haven’t been contacted by SA WISE by 20 December, you have unfortunately not been successful in your application.

SAWISE Hope Scholarship

Eligibility criteria for SAWISE Hope Scholarship include:
i. A South African female student.
ii. Must have achieved an academic average of over 65%.
iii. Only for studies at Honours level (or 4th year equivalent e.g. in engineering).
iv. In any field of science and engineering. Medical fields are also included.
v. Candidates must exhibit outstanding personal qualities and a strong desire to make a contribution to their respective fields and to society at large.
vi. Must be studying at one of following institutions: University of Cape Town, University of Johannesburg, University of KwaZulu-Natal, University of Pretoria, University of Stellenbosch, University of the Witwatersrand, and University of the Western Cape.

Applications for these scholarships must include hard copies of the following:
1. Curriculum vitae.
2. An official academic transcript (record).
3. A letter of motivation (~350 words).
4. A certified copy of your ID.
