The Hague Institute is currently accepting applications for its 2015 Summer Fellowship

The Institute’s highly selective Summer Fellowship program was launched in Summer 2013 with the aim of developing the skills of graduate students in an interdisciplinary approach to global justice.

Fellows contribute to ongoing research projects, as well as assisting in the wider activities of the Institute.

The Hague Institute for Global Justice is an independent, nonpartisan organization established to conduct interdisciplinary policy-relevant research, develop practitioner tools, and convene experts, practitioners and policymakers to facilitate knowledge sharing. Through this work the Institute aims to contribute to, and further strengthen, the global framework for preventing and resolving conflict and promoting international peace.

In addition to full- and part-time job openings, The Hague Institute provides temporary opportunities for graduate and recent graduate students. Vacancies are posted as needed and recruitment takes place on a rolling basis each season.

Eligibility

  1. Graduate or current student enrolled in a Bachelor or Master’s Program in the field of public international law, international relations, political sciences, conflict studies, or related disciplines;
  2. To meet Netherlands visa requirements, eligibility for the program is limited to (i) EU citizens and (ii) non-EU citizens enrolled in a university course at the time of their Fellowship;
  3. Demonstrated commitment to the mission and objectives of The Hague Institute and a strong desire to work in the field of peace and justice; 

  4. Excellent analytical and organizational skills;
  5. Excellent communication skills;
  6. Knowledge of the English language (fluent) and preferably one other official language of the UN.

Duties and Responsibilities

Fellows contribute approximately 38 hours per week to the Institute. They assist research staff with the following tasks:

  • Research activities
  • Drafting of reports, policy briefs and other publications
  • Organization of expert meetings / events
  • Administration

Benefits

  • The Hague Institute will offer a stipend of €600 (pro rata) for the duration of their tenure at the Institute.
  • Additional costs such as housing, travel, living expenses, visa arrangements and medical insurance connected with the program must be borne by the Fellows.
