2015 Schmidt-MacArthur Fellowship Wild Card Competition for Postgraduate Students (worth GBP £10,000)

The Schmidt-MacArthur Fellowship is an international fellowship programme for postgraduate students and their university tutors on creative and innovative thinking around the circular economy. The programme takes a multi-disciplinary approach with input across design, engineering and business. It is developed and run in partnership with a Core Team of three leading UK academic institutions – Cranfield University, Imperial College London and London Business School.

Schmidt-MacArthur are looking for an exceptional student to join 15 other students from leading universities including MIT, Yale University, Stanford University, Imperial College London and London Business School, in the 2015 Fellowship Programme

 

ELIGIBILITY
The 2015 Wild Card competition is open to postgraduate students who meet the following requirements:
1. Confirmed and accepted place on a postgraduate course in design, engineering and / or business, including proof of all necessary funding, by 15 February 2015 at the latest.
2. Able to:
• attend an online interview on either Monday 23, Tuesday 24 or Wednesday 25 February 2015, if shortlisted
• attend a week-long summer school, at London Business School, in the UK, 22 – 26 June 2015
• undertake a research project as part of their course, during the Fellowship year
• take part in the 2015 online knowledge-building programme
• comply with the Student Agreement (and the mentor with the Mentor Agreement) if the application is successful (see supporting documents on the Wild Card entry webpage)
3. Evidence of the support (in a confirmation letter) of your university and your academic mentor and the availability of that mentor to attend the week-long summer school, at London Business School, in the UK, 22 – 26 June 2015.

  • All expenses paid week long summer school in London, in the UK.
  • A GB£ 2000 financial bursary.

  • The opportunity for your faculty mentor to take part in this exclusive programme and network with top academics from leading universities around the world, as well as receive a GB£ 2000 ($3200) honorarium.

Application period: 1 December 2014 – 15 February 2015
Shortlisting: 16 – 18 February 2015
Online interviewing of shortlisted candidates: 23, 24 & 25 February 2015
Selection of 2015 Students: 26 & 27 February 2015

How to enter

There are three parts to submitting a valid Wild Card Competition application:

1) Obtain a confirmation letter signed by you and your university mentor
2) Film a 90 second video with your answer to this year’s competition task (detailed in the competition brief document)
3) Complete the online form (link also provided in the competition brief document)
