This year, the United Nation will convene for its General Assembly in New York to adopt a new set of targets called the Sustainable Development Goals, which will pave the way for all our development work over the next two decades. (Click here for a draft of the SDGs).
But now UNESCO MGIEP want to hear from you first:
IF YOU COULD DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT A SET OF THREE GOALS THAT THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY—INCLUDING THE UN—SHOULD FOLLOW OVER THE NEXT 20 YEARS:

WHY ARE THEY IMPORTANT?
HOW WOULD YOU IMPLEMENT THEM?
UNESCO MGIEP is a specialized international UNESCO Institute, working to build the capacities of Member States, education systems, Post-2015 international policy, and youth, on education for peace and sustainable development.
If you are between the ages of 16-32 and live anywhere in the world, send us a 1,000-word essay which answers these questions. The winners receive a prize and will be published in the upcoming issue of the Blue Dot Magazine. The title of your essay is up to you.

Rules
- Essays must be in English.
- All entries should be sent by email in the form of an attachment in the .doc or .docx format.
- Please include your full name, date and year of birth, current occupation, affiliation (ex. school, university or employment), an email address where we can contact you, and country of residence.
- UNESCO MGIEP will ask for proof of date of birth and a high resolution picture of the author if an essay is selected for publication.
- The essay must be an original work of the submitting author. Plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification.
- All sources cited and mentioned in the essay must be properly cited and referenced. Any academically recognized citation style may be used, as long as the name of the author, publication, and date are clearly mentioned.
- Only submissions received before midnight (Indian Standard Time) on 30 March 2015 will be considered.
- The decision of the judges is final.
- Contest entrants allow UNESCO MGIEP to publish their work, or extracts thereof, with full credit to the author, on its website, social media platforms, any future publications, and publicity material.
- In the event that there is an insufficient number of qualified entries or if the judges determine that no entries meet the quality standards established to award the prizes, UNESCO MGIEP reserves the right not to award any prizes.
Prizes
The top three winning entries will be published in the July 2015 Issue of the Blue Dot, UNESCO MGIEP’s biannual magazine.
First Prize: 750 USD
Second Prize: 500 USD
Third Prize: 250 USD
Short extracts from some of the best entries will be published in the Blue Dot’s Youth Section.
