Are you an early career trauma and injury researcher from Egypt, South Africa, or the UK? Do you have an interest in gaining mentorship and research skills, and joining a collaborative, multi-national network of researchers? You may be a candidate for the inaguaral Trauma & Injury Research in Africa Workshop!

Successful applicants will receive funding to travel to and participate in a 3-day workshop in Cairo, Egypt, from 10-12 November 2016, running in conjunction with the 2016 African Conference on Emergency Medicine.

The Medical Research Council, in cooperation with Ain Shams University, University of Cape Town, University of Sheffield, and University of Manchester, announces an open call for applications for the Trauma & Injury Research in Africa Workshop. The inaugural workshop will take place alongside the 2016 African Conference on Emergency Medicine.

During the 3-day workshop, early career researchers will participate in training and mentorship activities relating to trauma and injury research in the African setting. There will also be opportunities to develop research proposals and partnerships with national and regional professional organizations.

Requirements

Workshop participants and mentors will form a collaborative African injury research network to facilitate injury research in the coming years Successful applicants will have all expenses including travel, accommodations, and meals paid by the workshop fund.
Applicants must:
• Have a research degree – meaning a PhD, an undergraduate medical
degree or be a Master’s student/graduate in nursing or public health
• Possess a demonstrable interest in trauma and injury research
• Currently be researchers based in Egypt, S. Africa or United Kingdom
• Attend entire workshop from 10-12 November 2016
