2016 BP South Africa Downstream Challenge Programme (Early Career Development Programme for South Africans & Mozambicans)

BP South Africa’s Downstream Challenge Programme offers the opportunity to develop in key areas of the business and secure yourself a career in one of the world’s major energy companies.

Downstream Challenge is BP’s early career graduate development programme, and the aim of the programme is to build fully competent independent professionals within a discipline to support business delivery across the Southern Africa business.

It is a competency-based programme which provides graduates with practical experience and formal learning while building discipline foundations. In South Africa and Mozambique, the programme typically runs over 24 months and consists of rotations depending on the business requirements. The actual time could be longer or shorter depending on individual circumstances and experience.

Entry Requirements

BP wants to recruit recent graduates with less than one year’s post-qualification experience who:

  • relevant qualification
  • minimum honours degree (further post-graduate degree beneficial)
  • meet the EE targets and or diversity and inclusion principles
  • have a good academic record and achievements (average of 65%)
  • are from recognised universities and universities of technology
  • demonstrate leadership, interpersonal, collaborative and team-working skills
  • can work under pressure.
  • are legally authorized to work in South Africa/Mozambique
