2016 Total South Africa Bursaries and Graduate Programmes for South Africans

Total offer bursaries to learners who require financial assistance for full time tuition at an FET college or a university in order for them to achieve a formal qualification e.g. a certificate, diploma or degree.
The aim of the bursary programme is to:
•Enhance youth development and employability
•Create a pool of talent to feed into the Young Talent Graduate programme
•Create a skills pool for scares and critical skills required by the company.
Total offer bursaries in the following fields:
•Engineering (Mechanical. Industrial and Civil)
•Economics
•Finance (Accounting or Tax)
•Marketing
•Environmental Studies
•Human Resources
•Logistics/Supply Chain Management
•Law and Governance
•Health and Safety
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Priority consideration for bursaries is given to previously disadvantaged South Africa students who have successfully completed their Grade 12 with a university exemption.
  • Bursaries are also provided to students in their third year studies provided they have achieved an average of 65% or greater for years 1 and 2 and require funding to continue their studies.
  • To be eligible learners should not be receiving any financial assistance from another institution or company.
  • Applicants should be between the ages of 18 and 23.
What does the bursary cover?
• Tuition fees
• Books and stationery
• Accommodation
Applications should include the following information to be considered:
•Application letter motivating why a bursary should be awarded in your favor
•Curriculum Vitae with contact details (more than one contact number and address)
• Certified Copies of recent academic record/transcript
• Proof of registration/admission letter from tertiary institution
• Certified copy of identity document
• Proof of parents/guardian income
In-Service Training:
•An In-Service programme is practical work experience during studies usually after two years of theory are successfully completed Semester 1-4
• Essential work experience that is part of the qualification and necessary to achieve the qualification
• Duration is a year with Practical 1 and 2 (P1 &P2) each taking six months to complete.
• The practical training is guided by the university curriculum.
Eligibility:
• Applications from the following will be considered for In-Service Training Programme:
• Students of Total South Africa bursaries programme
• Students who have excelled academically in their Semester 1-4 with an average of 65% and require working experience to allow them to qualify in their respective field of Engineering
• Students who have never been employed or participated in any In-Service programme before

Training programme

• Certified copies of recent academic records/transcript
• Certified copies of identity document
Graduate programme (Workplace Experience?)
A graduate programme is a programme for unemployed learners who have concluded their studies successfully in a defined scarce and / or critical skill and who need workplace exposure in order to improve their employment opportunities.
The aim of this graduate programme is to:
•Provide individuals with a full and realistic view of workplace culture and expectations.
•Integrate academic preparation with professional challenges.
Total offer graduate programme in the following fields:
•Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial and Civil)
• Internal Auditing
•Analytical Chemistry
• Marketing
• Environmental Protection
• Human Resources
• Logistics/Supply Chain Management
• Law and Governance
• Health and Safety

 

Eligibility Requirements

Applications from the following will be considered for graduate programme/Workplace Experience:
• Graduates of Total South Africa bursaries programme
• Qualified students who have excelled academically and require working experience
to improve their chances of employability.
• Graduates who have never been employed or participated in any graduate
programme before.

• Application letter motivating why you should be considered for a graduate programme
• Curriculum Vitae with contact details (more than one contact number or address)
• Certified copies of recent academic records/transcript and qualifications (if already attained)
• Certified copies of identity document.
Learnership:
Learnership is a training programme that facilitates the linkage between structured learning and work experience in order for the individual to acquire a registered qualification. It combines theory and workplace practice into a qualification that is registered in terms of the National Qualifications Framework (NQF).
Learnerships are recommended frame within which to explore new opportunities. They directly address the “how” of the Skills Development Strategy.
Aim of Learnesrhips
The aim of a learnership is to:
• Provide learners with the necessary skills and experiences to pursue opportunities in the chemical industry.
• Bridge the gap between critical and qualified candidates
• Increase employment opportunities
