Categories

Submissions can be entered in seven categories:

  1. Creative: Images depicting an artistic approach to photography.
  2. Daily Life: Photographs that document the extraordinary in ordinary or throw a new perspective on everyday life.
  3. Nature: Photographs of the natural world, including landscape, environmental photography and wildlife.
  4. News: Images covering news topics and current affairs.
  5. Portraits: Images that show a person’s likeness, personality and character in their environment.
  6. Sports: Images of everything sports-related: sporting events, sports stars or even a village football match.
  7. Story: 4 to 10 images. Any of the above categories may be used as a theme for a story entry, but images submitted should show a clear narrative that is improved, not diluted by the inclusion of multiple images.

An international panel of judges with years of photography experience will deliberate on which images stand out and best showcase the events of the past year. To cater to the different photography interests and not limit the competition to only press photography, the award has 7 categories from which participants can choose to submit their published or unpublished work: News, Daily Life, Creative, Portrait, Sports, Nature & Story.
