The African Leadership University, founded by Fred Swaniker and a sister company of African Leadership Academy, is looking to hire Youth Ambassadors to represent ALU across Africa. This role presents an exciting opportunity for young, talented, highly motivated and well-spoken individuals to play a critical role in an organization that will change the face of university education.

ALU is founded on the philosophy that a new generation of ethical, committed leaders is the key to unleashing Africa’s potential. ALU’s vision is to build 25 new universities across 25 cities in Africa, serving up to 250,000 students at scale. The first campus will open in September 2015 in Mauritius.

The African Leadership University, will provide an exceptional learning environment focused on building real-world skills and true expertise across a variety of disciplines. ALU’s goal is to graduate confident, intelligent and proactive citizens, business leaders and entrepreneurs to meet the growing demand for talent across Africa.

Youth Ambassadors will:

  • Develop public speaking & presentation skills
  • Develop business and relationship- building skills
  • Receive training in South Africa (all expenses paid)
  • Represent ALU in their home country
  • Earn prizes through the ALU Ambassador Rewards program
  • Earn US$200 per month

Profile of the ideal Youth Ambassador candidate

 The ideal candidate will be:

  • Interested in innovative approaches to marketing
  • Execution focused with the ability to prioritize and get things done
  • Extremely driven and goal-oriented (i.e. someone who does not give up easily and will continuously try multiple, creative ways to solve a problem)
  • A learner: someone who frequently asks for and gives feedback with the aim of continuous improvement

Desired experience and expertise:

  • High school graduate
  • Experience with using social media sites
  • Strong public speaking abilities
  • Fluent in English and the language spoken in their home country

Roles and Responsibilities:

The overall goal for a Youth Ambassador is to gain 500 applications to ALU’s first campus from their home country, and to:

Help maintain ALU’s online presence, including:

  • Posting on social media about ALU
  • Writing blog posts about ALU
  • Represent ALU in their communities by:

o   Speaking at schools and other institutions

o   Speaking at Community events

o   Distributing information/collateral

Requirements:

To be eligible for the program, applicants must have:

  • A personal mobile phone
  • A personal laptop
  • A constant, working internet connection
  • Full time commitment to the ALU YA program. Youth Ambassadors cannot have any other employment or study commitments
