Arab Culture and Arts Fund (AFAC) 2017 Grants for Arab culture projects

Arab Culture and Arts Fund (AFAC) 2017 Grants is now accepting applications in the categories of Music and RTR (Research/Training/Regional Events) as part of its 2017 general grants program.

This year, AFAC have increased the total budget for RTR projects to almost half a million US Dollars, while the total Music grant budget increased to 330 thousand US Dollars. And RTR applicants can now include the running cost in their budgeting.

Since its inception in 2007 AFAC has supported 135 RTR project and 130 Music project that have attracted large audiences regionally and internationally.

Requirements:

  • The call is open to Arab individuals living in the Arab region or in diaspora and to local, regional and international institutions whose projects are related to contemporary Arab culture.

Categories:

AFAC supports projects in the following fields:

Performing Arts: AFAC offers funding for development and production of theatre, dance and other forms of performing arts.

Visual Arts: AFAC offers funding for production and organization of art exhibitions, installations, and other forms of visual arts.

Cinema: AFAC offers funding for development and scriptwriting, production and post-production of animation, documentary, experimental and narrative films in short, medium and feature lengths.

Music: AFAC offers funding for music productions, performances, collaborations, album recordings and other musical projects.

Research, Training and Regional Events (RTR): AFAC offers funding for studies and workshops in cultural and artistic fields, collaborative projects among artists and academics, multi-media libraries, archives and cultural documentation.

Literature: Starting from 2014 for a period of three years, and as a result of an assessment of the last cycles of the literature general call and the feedback of our juror committees, this category is being replaced by a special program designed to develop the creative writing capacities of aspiring Arab authors. This special program is called the AFAC Novel Writing

Music and RTR applications must be submitted online no later than August 31, 2017. The results will be announced on November 21st, 2017. Applications can be submitted in either Arabic or in English.
