Association of African Universities call for Consultants/Experts

The Association of African Universities(AAU), UNESCO, the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) and the African and Malagasy Council for Higher Education (CAMES), jointly provide technical support to African countries and universities. In this regard, these institutions are inviting applications for the recruitment five (05) consultants to develop innovative models for the funding of higher education in five individual African countries namely: Ghana, Senegal, Nigeria, South Africa, and Kenya. 

ask of the Consultant

The consultant shall develop and present the proposed innovative funding model of the country in question,such as the GETFUND in Ghana or the Performance Contract inSenegal as a case in point. The consultant must propose the objectives, the various implementation stages, results and the impacts of the proposed model. 

The proposal should provide answers to some key questions, such as: 

  •  What the challenges of the new approach are?
  •  Who the various stakeholders are and what their levels of commitment are?
  •   What the priority issues are?
  •  How to promote innovative funding?
  •   Which the limitations are and what the prerequisites are? 

The Use of the Expected Results

The results of these five case studies shall be presented during a regional conference in Lomé, Togo in September 2014 to representatives of Ministries in charge of Higher Education and Research, Finance, as well as universities and research institutions, the private sector, the civil society, parliamentarians and development partners, among others.  

Duration and Expected Output of the Study

The study shall have a duration of 20 days at the end of which the successful consultant shall produce a final report and a PowerPoint format for the purpose of presentation. 

Remuneration

An amount of USD 3,500.00 will be awarded to each country case study payable upon submission of the study report.

In additional the consultant will be invited to make a presentation on his/her study during the conference.
