Call for Nominations: 2016 International Youths Conference on Counter-Terrorism, Nairobi Kenya

IYCCT pleased to invite your Organization/institution to nominate delegates the 2016 The 2016 International Youths Conference on Counter-Terrorism taking place from Feb. 4th – 6th, 2016 in  Nairobi, Kenya.

The Conference is a major event that aims to further the post-2015 global development discourse on counter-terrorism, emphasizing counter-terrorism implementation challenges, by bringing together Youth representatives, youth leaders and leading counter-terrorism practitioners from around the world purposing to provide an opportunity to assess the crucial role of youths and women in counter-terrorism.

The main theme of the 2016 IYCCT is “Effective Cooperation for Building Community Resilience Against Violent Extremism”. IYCCT hence invite you to share in our acknowledgement that Violent extremist ideologies and radicalization of youths has taken hold, and there’s thus the need to increase the use of public diplomacy and software CVE programs as a way to reduce the numbers of those susceptible to radicalization.

Youth participants will be invited to elaborate recommended actions and commitments in line with the conference’s theme and within the framework of the said Strategy. These will be presented to The United Nations’ Counter-Terrorism Implementation Task Force (CTITF) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, and will also serve as the reference basis for the development and roll-out of youth-led action projects (The IYAAT Country Chapters) in the follow-up to the conference and throughout the three years leading up to 2019.

These projects will be submitted and implemented by the participants, after the conference. This will allow continuing the momentum between the young participants to translate the recommended actions and commitments into tangible local action.

Kindly bear in mind the need to ensure gender balance in making the choice as well as the

representation of disadvantaged and vulnerable groups, particularly from indigenous populations and

youth with disabilities. Also Kindly note that the costs related to the participation of the nominated youth participant(s) should be covered by your Organization.

Nominate your delegates by completing the electronic form available through this link

(https://www.cognitoforms.com/InternationalYouthActionAgainstTerrorism/IYCCTNominationForm)  on or before 20th January 2016.
