The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants global business challenge (GBC) is an international business competition designed to bring out the best in the young business leaders of tomorrow. This is a great opportunity for students around the world to showcase their talent in business management.
The competition is organised in partnership with Barclays, who share CIMA’s vision in
developing and nurturing young talent around the world.
How to take part

To take part in the CIMA Global Business Challenge, you will first need to form a team of four people to undertake the task of analysing and solving a real-life business case study

Team members must be full-time or part-time student undergraduates or equivalent from your university / institution. You don’t have to be studying for the same degree – past participants have taken a range of subjects – but you do have to be up for the challenge!

Once you have formed your team, here’s what to do next:

  1. Register all four members using our team registration form.*
  2. Once your team is registered, you can download the challenge material (PDF 294KB) and will be emailed the scenario.
  3. Using this information, write and submit your report to your region by the deadline for submission for your region. Be sure to read our great guidelines and tips to help you.
  4. If you are selected by the judges, you will progress to your local finals: see your region for details.
  5. If you win your national final, you will compete at the global final in Warsaw, Poland
How does the competition work?
The competition runs in three stages.
  • The first stage is to write a 3000 word report with your team based on the GBC case study
  • The best reports will be shortlisted and then the successful teams will go on to present their findings at the regional final
  • The winning team at the regional final will then proceed to the global final in Poland to represent their country or region in the battle to become global champions.
