Join the “Climate Change is NOW” writing competition and be able to speak in a Cambridge University event!

Climate Tracker wants to raise awareness worldwide of the already occurring impacts of climate change, that is why we are asking you to write about how climate change is affecting your community. The winner will get to speak in a University of Cambridge, and the 5 best writers will get an official Cambridge diploma.

Climate Tracker will be part of the Cambridge Climate Lecture Series 2018, and we want you to be part of it too! The winner of the writing competition will speak via video or livestream in the Climate Tracker talk, on February 22nd. We will also award 5 official Cambridge University diplomas to the best writers of the competition!

The year of 2017 has seen an endless series of climate-related disasters, with typhoons, floods and droughts affecting communities worldwide. These frontline farmers, women, indigenous peoples, they realise climate change is NOW, not somewhere in the future. However, not enough action is being taken at a national and international level, creating a dark future, especially for those most vulnerable.

With this writing competition we want you to explain how climate change is affecting your local/regional community in the present day. You can also write how do you think these problems could be combatted, or give examples that are currently working to combat the issues.

The best writer will speak via video or livestream in the lecture that Climate Tracker will give in Cambridge, in February 22nd. Furthermore, the 5 best writers will get a certified diploma by the University of Cambridge, as winners of the writing competition.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Every country in the world is eligible to participate!
  • 18 and 30 years old, but you are encouraged to apply anyway if you do not fulfill this requirement (age is just a number anyway).

Submission Guideline:

  • Between the 15th of January and the 2nd of February you have to write one article about how climate change is affecting your local/regional community in the present day. You can also explain how do you think these problems could be combatted, or give examples that are currently working to combat the issues.
  • Then you have to publish the article in media in your country or region. It can be a newspaper, a magazine, an online news site, etc. Once your article is published, you have to submit the link to us through our app.
  • Climate Tracker will revise the articles submitted through the app, give you feedback and tips, and select the best writers.
