Climate Tracker is looking for young journalists from around the world who want to make a big impact in their countries by publishing about stopping fossil fuel projects in their own countries.

We have to stop burning fossil fuels and radically transform our societies if we want to stay within the 1.5 degrees of warming limit. And in this new economy and society we have to build there is no place for new fossil fuel plants. So then, why countries keep investing in building new fossil fuel infrastructure?

A recent report states that banks invested 1.9 trillion USD in fossil fuels since 2015, when the Paris Agreement was signed, and top oil firms still spend millions lobbying to block climate policies.

Luckily, people around the world are mobilising to stop fossil fuel projects: from the fight against fracking in the UK, to trans-country gas pipelines such as TAP, or new coal plants like La Union in the Philippines or Sundarbans in Bangladesh.

Children around the world are also telling us that we need to act now, that we have to change the word if we want them to have a future.

That is why we are asking you to publish about a fossil fuel project in your country that has to be stopped. They don’t belong in our future.
