Coady Institute Sister-to-Sister Mentorship Program 2019

Application Deadline: June 17th 2019

Coady Institute is partnering with the Nobel Women’s Initiative once again for the Sister-to-Sister Mentorship Program.

Over the past seven years, the Sister-to-Sister Mentorship Program has provided valuable advocacy and grassroots organizing training to incredible young women activists from around the world. The program supports young women’s rights activists in their international advocacy and media work. Participants learn and practice essential skills in a safe, supportive, and confidence-building environment.

Six feminist peace activists will travel to Ottawa, Canada for a six-week communications and advocacy training from October 21 to November 29, 2019. One week during this period will be spent at Coady Institute in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Participants will work closely with Nobel Women’s Initiative, Coady Institute, and outside facilitators to build advocacy and communications skills, as well as to meet with experts working in related areas. Upon returning home, participants will continue to receive support from the Nobel Women’s Initiative team and Coady Institute for the period of December 2019 to April 2020.

Five of the spots are open to feminist leaders from the Global South. Applications from organizations operating in conflict or post-conflict countries from the Middle East and North Africa, Burma, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Great Lakes Region/East Africa, Liberia, Nigeria, South Sudan, Sudan, Colombia, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico will be given a preference.

The sixth spot is open to a young First Nations, Métis, or Inuit woman leader focused on social justice issues and working with a First Nations, Métis or Inuit, social justice, or peace organization.
