Please note:
Every year, invitations coupled with grants are extended to 20 internationally known younger artists to spend 12 months in Berlin. Invitations to filmmakers are issued for 6 months.

For visual arts, an international jury nominates and selects the artists. Therefore, no applications are possible for visual arts.

An invitation to the Berliner Künstlerprogramm is one of the most sought- after scholarships in the world. Therefore, because of the exceptionally large number of applications compared to the limited number of scholarships available, many highly qualified applications cannot be considered. The non-acceptance of an application is not in any way a negative value-judgment about the artistic work of the applicant. Reapplication is possible.
