DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program 2024 Residencies for cultural producers (Fully Funded to Berlin, Germany)

Application Deadline: December 1st, 2022.

Every year since 1963, around twenty internationally recognized cultural producers of all ages who have developed a distinctive creative practice and have already produced a substantial body of work in the field of visual arts, film, literature, or music have been invited to spend twelve months living and working in Berlin. Invitations to filmmakers are issued for six months.

The residency is not a grant to support cultural producers who are still studying or have recently graduated. Candidates in the field of visual arts are nominated and selected by an expert jury; for this reason, applications may not be submitted in this field.

An invitation to participate in the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program is one of the most sought-after fellowships in the world. Due to the exceptionally large number of applications for the limited number of fellowships available, many highly qualified applications cannot be considered; this in no way represents a negative evaluation of the applicant’s artistic practice. Applicants who would not have been chosen in previous application rounds may reapply at a later date.

Requirements

  • Each year, around twenty outstanding practitioners from diverse cultural backgrounds are invited to Berlin. The Artists-in-Berlin Program is committed to including and presenting a wide array of voices and perspectives, and to advancing gender equality.

The program is an award for outstanding practitioners. It is conceived for established artists who have already developed their own voice and standing.

There is no age limitation (upwards).
