DEMO Africa re-introduces the Alpha Pitch in Johannesburg

DEMO Africa 2016 will re-introduce the Alpha Pitch in this year’s launch event in Johannesburg, South Africa. The announcement was made in Lagos, Nigeria by Mr. Mbugua Njihia, the Event Director after presiding over the Nigeria Edition of the Innovation Tours at the iDEA Hub.

The Alpha Pitch is an elevator pitch that targets younger entrepreneurs who are
still working on their business ideas.

“We have a huge pipeline of venture and we are looking for new ways of getting more venture on stage so that they can get the exposure they need and also network with potential investors,” Mr Njihia said.

According to the organisers, over 500 ventures have applied to launch with a week to go. So far we have more than 500 applications in the system and we are seeing an increase in the speed of applications coming in as we near the deadline,” said Hany Zuhudi, the Community Manager at DEMO Africa.

The application window closes on the 15th of June ushering a rigorous adjudication
process which is expected to take upto 3 weeks.

The final companies to launch their products at the DEMO Africa stage will then be announced early in July.

This year’s DEMO Africa launch event will be held at the Sandton Convention
Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa on 25th and 26th August 2016.

The event is held in collaboration with the LIONS@frica partners, the City of Johannesburg and the South African Department of Science and Technology.

More than 600 people are expected to attend this year’s event.
