The SUMA master programmes aim to train tomorrow’s industrial engineers in collaborative work in a global world and gather some of the best educational programmes in the field of sustainable materials engineering in Europe. The SUMA master programmes aim to train tomorrow’s industrial engineers in collaborative work in a global world and gather some of the best educational programmes in the field of sustainable materials engineering in Europe.
They stimulate innovation, entrepreneurship and leadership and focus on circular (eco)design, materials substitution, life cycle engineering and circular economy design, materials processing and recycling, manufacturing, and innovation. They involve studies in two different institutions, an internship in a company and and a master thesis in collaboration with a company.
Selected students can chose one of ten different options and study one full year at one of the partner universities and continue the second and final master year in a different country.
They can study at these five universities:
– University of Trento
– University of Milano-Bicocca
– Grenoble INP
– Montanuniversität Leoben or
– KU Leuven.
Students who pass all subjects will receive a double degree from both institutions and a certificate from the EIT.
Opportunity Prize
- Mobility allowance during the 2-year Master programme in Sustainable Materials (SUMA)
- No prize alternatives or cash equivalents are offered
- Prizes are non-transferable
- The winner is solely responsible for all applicable taxes related to the acceptance of the prize

- Candidates must have completed their application here.
- Candidates must have a good level of English
- Winners must abide by the application requirements of the host organization
