European Forum Alpbach Foundation Scholarships 2020 for emerging Leaders worldwide (Scholarships Available)

Every year, over 650 students from almost 100 nationalities participate as scholarship holders in the European Forum Alpbach. Join smart minds from around the world in a charming Alpine village, immersing yourself in an environment bursting with novel ideas, new ways of thinking and opportunities for making great contacts.

With the Alpbach Scholarship Programme, young people under 30 (or under 35 for African scholarship holders) can attend this leading interdisciplinary conference and a variety of academic and artistic seminars.

Since 1945, thousands of people have been gathering every summer at the European Forum Alpbach (Austria) to develop new perspectives for tomorrow’s Europe. Experts from science, politics, economics, culture and civil society join forces to address current challenges of our society.

With the Alpbach scholarship programme, young people under 30 can attend this leading interdisciplinary conference and a variety of academic and artistic seminars. A basic scholarship covers the participation fee to all events at the European Forum Alpbach. Additional subsidies are available for accommodation and daily allowances.

Requirements:

The scholarship to participate in the Seminar Week (19.08.-26.08.2020) and the Alpbach Symposia (22.08.-04.09.2020) is available to:

  1. International applicants up to the age of 30 (under the age of 35 for African applicants) and under the age of 35 for “returner” scholarships, meaning those applicants who have already been to Alpbach as scholarship holders at least once
  2. We welcome applications from all countries and academic disciplines. Artists and non-graduates are strongly encouraged to apply
  3. There are special application procedures for Austrian, Chinese and Taiwanese If you hold one of these passports, you cannot apply through the European Forum Alpbach Foundation. More information here.
  4. Former Alpbach scholarship holders are invited to return to the European Forum Alpbach as Seminar Assistants or Alpbach Buddies. More information can be found

Please Note:

  • First-Time Scholarship holders must be available to stay at the European Forum Alpbach for a minimum of 12 days.
  • Returner Scholarship holders must be available to stay at the European Forum Alpbach for a minimum of 9 days.

Scholarships Types

There are the 3 first-time scholarship types:

1. Basic Scholarship

This scholarship covers:
a) participation fee (EUR 1600,00) to the European Forum Alpbach

2. Partial Scholarship

This scholarship covers:
a) participation fee (EUR 1600,00) to the European Forum Alpbach
b) accommodation (EUR 30,00 per day) during your stay at the European Forum Alpbach**

*Please note that the partial and full scholarships can only be granted upon availability of funds.
** Additional Requirement for Partial and Full Scholarships: Proof of insufficient funds to cover the stay in Alpbach. A written statement or a proof of state subsidy will suffice.

3. Full Scholarship

This scholarship covers:
a) participation fee (EUR 1600,00) to the European Forum Alpbach
b) accommodation (EUR 30,00 per day) during your stay at the European Forum Alpbach**
c) board allowance (EUR 17,00 per day) during your stay at the European Forum Alpbach**

*Please note that the partial and full scholarships can only be granted upon availability of funds.
** Additional Requirement for Partial and Full Scholarships: Proof of insufficient funds to cover the stay in Alpbach. A written statement or a proof of state subsidy will suffice.
