PRIZE FOR THE BEST ESSAY ON URBAN AND REGIONAL THEMES BY YOUNG AUTHORS

In collaboration with the International Journal of Urban Regional Research and Wiley-Blackwell Publishers, the Foundation for Urban and Regional Studies is organising its seventh international essay competition for the best essay on urban and regional themes by PhD students or scholars who have completed their PhD within a five year period.

Essays must be written in English, but referees will be informed of the native language of the author. If the winner is a non English speaking author, copy-editing will be provided for the article, if necessary. The essay should be no longer than 7,000 words (including footnotes and bibliography) and be sent with a 500-word maximum summary. Essays exceeding 7,000 words will be automatically excluded.

A note must be attached to the essay indicating the author’s full name, address, university or workplace (if any), date and place of birth, nationality, native language, e-mail, telephone and fax number(s), a short CV (maximum 100 words) and stating the essay’s word length.

Essays must be sent by 31 May 2014 to furs.competition@usp.br as an attachment in Winword format (.pdf files are not allowed.)

Prize Worth:

  • A prize of £1,000 will be awarded to the winner.
  • The winning essay will also be published in the International Journal of Urban and Regional Research (IJURR).
