GOETHE-DECOUVERTE 2024 for young Cameroonian artists (500,000 F CFA)

Applications are now open for the 2024 GOETHE-DECOUVERTE Program. Applications are made exclusively online on the Goethe-Institut Kamerun website. The results of the first selection phase of the three finalists will be displayed at the Goethe-Institut and available on the website of the Goethe-Institut Kamerun (www.goethe.de/kamerun) as well as on its Facebook page on 16.02.2024. The 3 finalists will take part in the in-person auditions which will take place on February 24, 2024 at the Goethe-Institut in Yaoundé

Requirements

  • The competition is aimed at Cameroonian artists, residing in Cameroon and aged 30 years at most on 28.02.2024 (born after 28.02.1994) and 18 years at least (born before 28.02 .2006). 
  • Winners of previous editions in any category cannot apply.

The prize
If selected, the winner benefits from the following advantages:

  • Personalized coaching from established professionals
  • The organization of a show during the period May-December 2024 (communication, technical and logistical organization, scenography, costumes)**
  • Support for the presentation of the work outside Yaoundé
  • A bonus of 500,000 F CFA
  • A digital photo album of the show
  • A video of the show

Dance

This call for applications is aimed at dancers and/or choreographers who have designed an original choreographic work that can be presented solo, in a duo or in a group*

Comic

This call for applications is aimed at artists, authors and comic artists who have designed an original work, preferably unpublished*.

Music: Sound

This call for applications is aimed at instrumental musicians as well as beatmakers or sound artists who have created original works*.

Music: Voice

This call for applications is aimed at singers and vocalists*.

Theatre

This call for applications is aimed at artists wishing to train or improve in the field of theater directing. Exceptionally, this edition does not recognize a single winner but rewards 5 candidates by granting them a series of training courses with a view to their professionalization.

Visual Arts

This call for applications is aimed at artists in the following disciplines: photography, painting, sculpture, drawing, video art, performance art, digital arts, VJing, graphics, graffiti, installation, etc.)*

Words on Stage

This call for applications is aimed at storytellers, slam artists or comedians who have created an original work*.

The selection criteria
The choice of the winner is made by an independent jury of arts and culture professionals and related professions. He/she is selected on the basis of the following criteria:

  • Originality, creativity and innovativeness of the proposed work
  • Quality of presentation of the file
  • Technical, artistic and professional qualities of the candidate
  • Relevance of the proposed work in relation to the local and/or international context

Application
Any application must include:

  • A CV of the dancer and/or choreographer (in PDF format, max 1 page, Times New Roman, font 12, single spacing)
  • Scanning the National Identity Card or passport (in JPG or PDF format)
  • A photo of the dancer and/or choreographer (in JPG format)
  • A link to a video (still shot without editing) of the dance performance lasting between 2 and 4 min.
