Harambe Entrepreneur Alliance (HEA) Scholarships 2018 for young African Entrepreneurs (Fully Funded MBA Scholarship for Study in Oxford, Yale & Tufts University)

Harambe Entrepreneur Alliance is a platform for highly educated young African social, business and political entrepreneurs, attending leading universities in Africa, Asia, Europe and North America.

Scholarships:
  • Oxford University:
  • The Skoll Scholarship provides full funding and a living stipend to complete a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Oxford’s Saïd Business School.
  • The Skoll Scholarship is intended for those who have started a social venture / initiative or pursued an impact career that focuses on a specific social or environmental challenge. It is an opportunity for recipients to improve their knowledge of market oriented practices so they can be more effective in their subsequent social change pursuits.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have spent preferably at least 3 years either:
  • starting and growing a social venture;
  • OR leading a major expansion of an existing social venture or programme within an organisation;
  • OR pursuing positive change as an impact career professional, i.e. someone who has used entrepreneurial approaches to address the same social/environmental issue, with a clear core thread that unites his/her work.
  • Candidates will have used entrepreneurial approaches to identify opportunities, taken action to positively shift the status quo, and produced proven impact that contributes to rectifying unjust systems and practices in their chosen area of work.
  • Candidates must demonstrate evidence of personal qualities strongly resonating with entrepreneurial leadership.
  • Candidates must demonstrate how a business education can contribute to the wider development of their work and help them amplify their impact.
  • Candidates must demonstrate some evidence of their need for the Scholarship.

Deadlines:

  • December 30, 2017- Candidates must complete online HEA Application at www.healliance.org/join
  • January 5, 2018 – Candidates must complete online Saïd Business School MBA Application during stages 1 or 2 at sbs.ox.ac.uk/programmes/degrees/mba/how-apply-mba March 25, 2018
  • Candidates must apply for the Skoll Scholarship if invited by the Skoll Centre June 20, 2018
  • Skoll Scholarship recipients will receive notification

 

  • Oxford University Pershing Square Scholars Program 2018:

In partnership with the Pershing Square Foundation, the Oxford Pershing Square Scholar Program is a 2 year full tuition plus living stipend award for Africa’s entrepreneurs wishing to scale their impact and pursue an Oxford 1+1 MBA at Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, starting in September 2018

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Born in Africa and / or current passport holders of an African country
  • Leadership potential, demonstrated through entrepreneurial experience and motivation
  • Academic achievement
  • Strong personal character, integrity and commitment
  • Intention to focus on addressing world-scale social challenges in your career, either in an existing organisation or through development of a new enterprise
  • Ability to envision how to achieve scalable and sustainable solutions to these challenges
  • Articulated vision on how the Oxford 1+1 MBA will allow you to fulfil your objectives

Deadlines:

  • Candidates must apply and be admitted to both Harambe and University of Oxford. December 30, 2017
  • Candidates must complete online HEA Application at www.healliance.org/join January 5, 2018
  • Candidates will need to submit two Oxford applications, one for the MSc and one for the 1+1 MBA, meeting the entry requirements for both sbs.ox.ac.uk/programmes/degrees/1plus1/how-to-apply
  • In addition to the Master and MBA applications, you must submit an essay of no more than 500 words addressing this question ‘How do you intend to change the world? What does this tell us about you as a person?’ March 16, 2018
  • If you have submitted your MSc application, but need more time for the 1+1 MBA, the final deadline is March 16. Please note that most partnering Masters close their applications in January 2018. June 20, 2018 Pershing Scholarship recipients will receive notification

  • Yale University:

    The Yale Scholar Program is a full-tuition plus fees award for Africa’s entrepreneurial leaders wishing to pursue a two year MBA at the Yale School of Management starting in September 2018.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Born in Africa and current passport holders of an African country
  • Exhibited entrepreneurial leadership in their field of interest
  • Two or more years of work experience
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
  • Candidates must arrange to have official university transcripts, letters of recommendation and standardized test scores arrive at Yale School of Management by the appropriate application deadline

Deadline:

  • Candidates must apply and be admitted to both Harambe and Yale School of Management December 30, 201
  • Candidates must complete online HEA Application at www.healliance.org/join January 4, 2018
  • Candidates must complete online Yale School of Management Application admissions.som.yale.edu/apply/ March 31, 2018
  • Scholarship recipient will receive notification by March 31, 2018

  • Tufts University:
    The Fletcher Scholar Program is a full-tuition award for young African entrepreneurial leaders wishing to pursue a master’s program at The Fletcher School at Tufts University, starting in September 2018.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Born in Africa and current passport holders of an African country
  • Exhibited entrepreneurial leadership in their field of interest OR spearheaded and led a major and successful expansion in a government agency or corporation
  • Two or more years of work experience
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent
  • Candidates must arrange to have official university transcripts, letters of recommendation and standardized test scores arrive to The Fletcher School by the appropriate application deadline

Deadlines:

  • Candidates must apply and be admitted to both Harambe and The Fletcher School December 30, 2017
  • Candidates must complete online HEA Application at www.healliance.org/join January 10, 2018
  • Candidates must complete online Fletcher School Application www.fletcher.tufts.edu/Admissions March 31, 2018
  • Scholarship recipient will receive notification
