iLive2Lead Young Women’s International Leadership Summit.(Scholarship Available to Attend)

Application Deadline: December 31st 2012

When: Johannesburg, March 22-27, 2013

iLIVE2LEAD (“iL2L”), hosted by Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, will hold an international leadership training Summit with a focus on social service and entrepreneurship. At the Summit, each delegate will develop her plan for an initiative she will lead in her community.

WHO: From around the world fifty promising young women leaders, ages 16-22, will be selected based upon their demonstrated leadership qualities and commitment to improving their communities.

WHERE: The delegates will live and work at the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, Johannesburg, South Africa. Oprah Winfrey and Nelson Mandela broke ground in December 2002 to build a state-of the-art school with 21 classrooms, 6 labs, a 600-seat theater, outdoor amphitheater, swimming pool and wellness center on 50 beautiful acres.

An iL2L Summit uses a proprietary curriculum to provide young women with the skills and confidence to become the leaders of their generation. To encourage
young women to “dream big” and consider non-traditional fields, women experts speak on careers in STEM, politics, diplomacy and environmental sustainability.

Under the guidance of an adult mentor, the delegate transforms her dream into a written project plan for an initiative she will lead in the year following the Summit. Interactive sessions provide intensive training in cross-cultural leadership, project planning, financial planning, team building, risk taking, international understanding, public speaking, on-camera interviews, social media, etc.

At the end of the iL2L Summit, the young woman leader returns to her country to (1) organize and lead her initiative,

(2) transfer and share what she has learned to her community through speaking and media engagements, and

(3) be a role model and inspiration to other young women in her community.

iLIVE2LEAD, a non-profit based in Washington, DC, develops the next generation of women leaders through intensive leadership and skill training, meetings with inspiring role models and the ongoing support of a mentor and peer network.
