Addressing Climate Change: In Focus is a global photography competition, created to raise awareness on climate change amongst the youth of the world, giving them a voice that will be heard by world leaders and negotiators alike. Seen through the lens of the world’s younger generation, their interpretation of climate change will be all the more poignant.

The Addressing Climate Change Youth Photography Competition, has been created to showcase the vision of the youth on the key question of climate change through photography.

Competition through the Eyes of the future custodians of our planet

The various categories will touch upon all aspects of our planet from its inhabitants, humans and animals, to an all rounded view of nature and how the world is moving towards renewable energy.

The competition was created by landscape photographer Henry Dallal, founder of the Addressing Climate Change Project, and endorsed by the Secretariat of the UNFCCC and is being launched as governments prepare to sign the historic Paris Climate Change Agreement at a special ceremony in New York on 22 April.

Managed by the Lucie Foundation, the Competition will be open internationally to all youths aged 7 to 18. In today’s world, where photography is an increasingly accessible medium, participants need only a mobile phone to capture powerful images of the effects of climate change.

Requirements:

  •  The competition is open to all childern (7-18 year old) from around the world.
  • This will give an exceptional opportunity to cover all continents, cultures and breaking down all barriers to bring the youth generation together into this essential debate for the future preservation of our planet.

Submission:

  • The competition will run from COP21 in Paris until COP22 in Marrakech.
  • An exhibition of the best photographs will be curated by the Lucie Foundation to be displayed within the United Nations blue zone – the zone where all the activities of the event take place during the COP events.
  • Selected images will be exhibited within the Blue Zone at the United Nations Climate Summit (COP22) in Marrakech (7-18 November) to delegates from all over the globe.
