PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival 2020 for youth Media Makers (Fully Funded to Morocco )

Application Deadline:Friday, 19 June 2020, at midnight EST.

PLURAL+ Youth Video Festival is a joint initiative of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) that invites the world’s youth to submit original and creative videos focusing on the themes of migration, diversity and social inclusion. By supporting the distribution of youth-produced media, PLURAL+ recognizes youth as powerful agents of positive social change in a world often characterized by intolerance, and cultural and religious divisions.

Every year, PLURAL+ gives young people around the world the opportunity to express their vision and their creativity through multimedia production. PLURAL+ invites young people of up to 25 years old to submit original and creative short films focusing on the themes of migration, diversity, social inclusion, and the prevention of xenophobia.

PLURAL+ Videos

PLURAL+ video entries are five minutes maximum and can be of any genre (animation, documentary, music video, comedy, etc.) as long as they convey a message that can contribute to making the audience think in constructive ways about the pressing social issues of migration, diversity, social inclusion, and the prevention of xenophobia. In addition, videos can be in any language as long as English subtitles are provided.

New Award Categories

For the 2020 edition of PLURAL+, IOM and UNAOC announced the creation of two new award categories for the festival, providing even more opportunities for young filmmakers around the world to be recognized for their creative visions.”

Entitled “The Future We Want,” the first new award category invites young filmmakers to submit videos focusing on the future of migration, diversity, social inclusion, and the prevention of xenophobia. It was created in the context of the 75th anniversary of the UN and the organization’s efforts to foster a global conversation on the role of global cooperation in building the future we want.

The second new category, the #forSafeWorship Award, invites youth to express their views and perspectives on ways to foster peaceful co-existence between religions and faiths. This category was created in the context of the UN Plan of Action to Safeguard Religious Sites, developed by UNAOC and launched in September 2019.

Selection

PLURAL+ video entries are organized in three age categories: 1) up to 12 years old; 2) 13-17 years old; and 3) 18-25 years old.

An International Jury then selects three PLURAL+ Award Winners in each age category. In addition, UNAOC and IOM select three videos to receive the Special Award for the Prevention of Xenophobia, The Future We Want Award, and the Award #forSafeWorship.

PLURAL+ partner organizations also award prizes and professional opportunities to more than 20 videos every year.

PLURAL+ Winners

Winning videos are chosen on the basis of their potential to have an impact on the audience, as well as on their artistic, innovative, and creative content.

In 2020, PLURAL+ award winners will be invited to Morocco, all expenses paid, to participate in the annual PLURAL+ Awards Ceremony, which will take place in the margins of the ninth Global Forum of UNAOC.
