Research and Innovation Support for Europe & Africa Mobility Grants Scheme 2016

Research and Innovation Support for Europe and Africa (RINEA) is a three year (2015-2018) project funded by the European Commission– Directorate General for Research and Innovation -under Horizon 2020.
The main goal of the mobility grants scheme is to strengthen cooperation on research and innovation between the EU and Africa reinforcing the linkage between academia and
the business community, especially on the priority of Food Nutrition Security and Sustainable Agriculture (FNSSA) and related fields.
Therefore, the funding scheme is designed to facilitate the participation of researchers, entrepreneurs, innovators, stakeholders and others in networking and brokerage events organized in the context of RINEA and beyond. It is foreseen that participants from EU countries will be funded to participate in events in Africa and vice-versa.
The current call will be conducted by FORTH/PRAXI Network and JyU/UniPID, partners in
the RINEA project, and it will be addressed to applicants representing SMEs, universities, research institutions and other organisations based in African countries. Successful applicants will receive financial support in order to participate in one of the following brokerage events:

The events are organised in the framework of Enterprise Europe Network and they promote business, technological and research partnerships. Representatives from business and research communities will have the opportunity to explore possible synergies and build new partnerships following a programme of pre-arranged meetings.

Eligible Applicants
Eligible applicants should meet the following criteria:
  • Researchers, innovation actors and representatives from academia and the business community;
  • Based in an African country;
  • Employed in universities, research institutes, industry research organisations, as well as SMEs or other enterprises located in one of the African countries and
  • Engaged in activities in the framework of the FNSSA priority and related fields. Under the current call, the RINEA project will support applicants who have
  • Considerable prior experience in research projects (private or public funded research, FP7, Horizon 2020, etc.) and international cooperation.
  • Innovative ideas for research and technological collaboration and/ or research project
    outputs with potential for commercial exploitation and further development (mature
    technologies, products or servi ces, patents etc.) in the framework of FNSSA and related fields.
  • Excellent knowledge of English.
Grants and Call Modalities
The mobility grant for this call will cover real expenses of selected applicants following the
reimbursement principle. The grant will cover the following expenses:
  • Travel expenses (flight and local transportation in economy/2nd class to and from the venue of the event)
  • Accommodation and visa (if necessary) for the duration of the stay
  • Single day admission for the main event, in case fees are required.
