Learning outcomes

The course will enable you to develop confidence and competence in:

  • Broadcast and multimedia formats and how to be creative in using and combining these in journalism
  • How to tell powerful stories and put them at the heart of your work as a journalist
  • Researching, writing, producing/publishing stories for broadcast/online
  • The impact of social media and how they can enhance the practice of broadcast and multimedia journalism
  • Working in a broadcast multimedia newsroom, generating story ideas and content for broadcast and online

Criteria for an NFP scholarship
Next to the RNTC course admission requirements, you need to meet the following requirements to be eligible for an NFP scholarship:

•  you are a national of and work in one of the following 51 countries: Afghanistan, Albania, Armenia, Autonomous Palestinian Territories, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burma, Burundi, Cambodia, Colombia, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Georgia, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Macedonia, Mali, Mongolia, Mozambique, Nepal, Nicaragua, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, South Sudan, Somalia, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Surinam, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, Vietnam, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe;
•  you are not employed by a multinational corporation, a UN organisation, the World Bank, the IMF, a bilateral or multinational donor organisation, or a large national and/or commercial organisation;
•  you have an Employer’s Statement that complies with the format Nuffic has provided. All information must be provided and all commitments that are included in the format must be endorsed in the statement;
•  you have an official and valid passport;
•  you do not receive more than one fellowship for courses that take place at the same time;
•  you have a Government Statement (only if applicable, please check this overview) that meets the requirements of the country in which the employer is established.
N.B. The NFP program has no age limit.

Admission requirements

Applicants must meet the following admissions requirements:

  1. You are currently working as a broadcast journalist and have a minimum of three years experience in or for broadcast media
  2. Your speaking and writing skills in English (the course language) are sufficient (see below)
  3. You submit a motivation in English (150-250 words) explaining the reasons for applying for the course, its relevance to your work and that of your organisation, and its potential contribution to enhancing the performance and the capacity of both
  4. To complete our admissions requirements at the beginning of the course we need to see the original (or if you prefer a properly certified copy) of your most recent educational qualification in secondary or higher education. Please make sure you bring this with you since we will ask to see it on the opening day of the course.
