Task:

“To develop a six-page business concept proposal on a profitable product or service that addresses the needs of the vulnerable in society”

The Global Enterprise Experience is an international business competition that develops skills in managing across cultures, time zones, world views and levels of wealth and poverty.  It builds a mindset for creating successful business ventures that tackle social and environmental issues.

Requirements:

  • Enrolment is free, and there are no restrictions on who may enrol.
  • Participants are in teams of eight, with members drawn from around the world.
  • Teams compete, not countries.
  • The team uses cloud computing to communicate with its members.
  • Participants usually enrol as pairs, although single enrolments are also accepted.
  •  On April 22 enrollees receive an email introducing them to their team of eight members.
  • All teams will have members from countries that are rich and poor, big and small, with diverse world views and time zones.
  • Participants are generally students, graduate or undergraduate, who are studying international business, international relations, development, peace studies, management, business communications, information systems or marketing.

 

Task:

“To develop a six-page business concept proposal on a profitable product or service that addresses the needs of the vulnerable in society”

  • In addition, each participant is required to submit a one-page journal that outlines their experience and insights.
  • Only those who have submitted a journal and have their name on the team report are eligible to win any of the prizes, or receive the letter of commendation and certificate.

Prizes:

  • Champion Team Award of NZ$1000 (about US$750) for each participating member of the winning team i.e. $NZ8,000 in total for the team.
  • There is an additional NZ$1000 for the Victoria University of Wellington Champion Individual Award, as well as prizes for the UNESCO Commitment Award and the University of Otago Business School Global Leader Award.
  • The prize giving will be held in New Zealand’s parliament in June.
  • New Zealand participants collected on behalf of their international colleagues awards, certificates and letters of recommendation, which will then be returned to the organiser and posted to the participant.

Only those who completed all of the requirements of the contest are eligible for awards and certificates.
