The Centre for Entrepreneurial Leadership Teaching Fellowship.

The CEL Teaching Fellowships start in late May 2013 for 15 months until late August 2014. We seek to attract talented people from diverse backgrounds to provide a broad set of experiences and opinions to inform our approach and guide our young leaders.

The Experience

The teaching fellowship program is a unique opportunity to experience the full gamut of our one-of-a-kind approach to creating leaders who will transform Africa. This ranges from direct in-class teaching, to program design, curriculum planning, external training and much more. Few other places allow this direct access into the field of teaching and leadership development

. As a CEL Teaching Fellow, you will participate in our core winter programming camps which act as a significant and practical proving ground. However, as a Fellow you have the privilege of joining our world-class teaching faculty. During the course of the full-academic year a range of essential elements may include but aren’t limited to:

  • Facilititating our Year 1 BUILD and Year 2 Student Enterprise Programs.
  • Administrating systems
  • Coaching a sport
  • Mentoring a club/society
  • Attending professional development and Faculty meetings
  • Advising academically and pastorally for a family of six students
  • Experiencing opportunities like our Distinguished Speaker Series and Conferences
  • Supervising residentially

  • You are comfortable interacting with people from a wide range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • You love working with young people and encouraging them to set and meet standards of excellence.
  • You envision a world with a culture of leadership, innovation, and international cooperation.
  • You are not afraid of working hard. In fact, you thrive when there are many demands on your time.

Desired Experience

  • A track record of leadership and results in extracurricular or professional activities.
  • Experience working with young people in a mentoring, teaching, or coaching capacity; formal teaching experience is not required, but is a plus.
  • Demonstrated fluency in English. Fluency in other languages spoken broadly on the continent (French, Portuguese, Arabic, Swahili, Yoruba, etc) is a plus.
  • Experience living and working in Africa is a plus.
