The Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center Residency Program offers academics, artists, thought leaders, policymakers, and practitioners a serene setting conducive to focused, goal-oriented work, and the unparalleled opportunity to establish new connections with fellow residents from a wide array of backgrounds, disciplines, and geographies.

The Bellagio Center Arts & Literary Arts Residency

The Bellagio Arts & Literary Arts residency is for composers, fiction and non-fiction writers, playwrights, poets, video/filmmakers, dancers, musicians, and visual artists who share in the Foundation’s mission of promoting the well-being of humankind and whose work is inspired by or relates to global or social issues. The residency is for artists seeking time for disciplined work, reflection, and collegial engagement with a diverse community of academics, practitioners, and artist

The Bellagio Center Academic Writing Residency

The Academic Writing residency is for university and think tank-based academics, researchers, professors, and scientists working in any discipline. Successful applicants will demonstrate decades of significant professional contributions to their field or show evidence of being on a strong upward trajectory for those earlier in their careers.

Benefits:

Room assignments are made at the time of invitation. All rooms have a private bath. Most rooms have an adjoining study, but some rooms have a study located inside the Villa or in the wooded park adjoining the Villa. Studios have a desk, chair, and a lamp. There is also a printer available. Depending on availability, residents can request a laptop computer.

Meals: During the course of the residency, room and board are provided without charge. The atmosphere at the Center is somewhat like a private home, albeit a very large one. The Center does not operate as a hotel and as such has limitations on certain services (for example, room service is not available).

All meals for residents are served at the Villa.

Breakfast: Continental breakfast starts at 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and a larger buffet-style breakfast is taken at your convenience between 8:00 a.m. and ending at 9:00 a.m.
Lunch: 1:00 p.m. sharp (ending at 2:00 p.m.). If you prefer, you can request a picnic bag in the morning to take for lunch.
Tea Time (optional): 4:00 p.m. (ending at 5:00 p.m.) in the Team Room.
Cocktails: 7:00 p.m. to 7:30pm
Dinner: served promptly at 7:30 p.m. (ending at 8:30 p.m.). Residents are expected to attend dinner.
