2012 Fall Internship: Africa Growth Initiative Global Economy and Development

The Africa Growth Initiative is currently seeking an administrative intern to provide programmatic and communications support through the fall of 2012. As part of the The Global Economy and Development Program at the Brookings Institution, the Africa Growth Initiative (AGI) conducts high-quality policy research and analysis focused on attaining sustainable economic development and prosperity in Africa, while amplifying the voice of African researchers in policy-making and planning.

The administrative intern will support the Initiative’s leadership, communication strategy, public and private events, and general administration. Primary responsibilities will include administrative assistance for current projects and ongoing work with our partner institutions throughout Africa, managing the program’s external contact database, helping to support all AGI meetings and events (tracking RSVPs, event logistics, and event staffing), supporting travel plans and expense reporting, and office management. Occasional research assistance (including checking citations and document formatting) may be required to support AGI’s scholars.

All internship positions are unpaid, and will run from the end of September/early October through December 2012 with the possibility of extension through spring 2013. Exact schedule is negotiable, but we would expect the candidate to be available 15-20 hours per week.

How to Apply
Please send a cover letter, resume and schedule availability to globalinterns@brookings.edu , with “Fall Intern: Africa Growth Initiative” in the subject line. Please discuss your qualifications, specifically why you are interested in interning with the Africa Growth Initiative, and your availability.

Applications must be received by September 24. Only applicants selected for an interview will be contacted. For international applicants, Brookings is not responsible for providing student or work visas; you will need to make your own visa arrangements.
