Applications are now open for the 2026 Afya na Haki (Ahaki) LIRA Fellowship Programme. The fellowship is seeking vibrant individuals from Anglophone and Francophone Africa who are passionate about shaping the future of reproductive justice on the continent. The programme seeks to foster an environment where Africa embraces reproductive justice through progressive, evidence-based and collaborative litigation that advances access to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).
The fellowship is designed to strengthen the capacities of African professionals and provide opportunities for career development in research, litigation and capacity enhancement in reproductive justice.
Ahaki particularly encourages researchers, scholars, litigants, activists and practitioners from across Africa who are passionate about SRHR and reproductive justice to apply.
The fellowship will be a full-time, in-person engagement at Ahaki for a period of 6–12 months.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be from Anglophone or Francophone Africa.
- Hold at least a Master’s degree.
- Have an academic background in one of the following areas:
- Law
- Public Health
- Social Sciences
- Gender Studies
- Mass Communication
- Human Rights
- Another discipline relevant to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR).
- Demonstrate an interest in reproductive justice and SRHR.
Experience in research, litigation, strategic communications or project management within the area of SRHR will be considered an added advantage.
Applicants who are fluent in both French and English are particularly encouraged to apply.
Fellowship Duration and Format
- Duration: 6–12 months
- Format: Full-time and in-person
