Applications are now open for the 2027 Continental Reinsurance Plc Pan-African Re/Insurance Journalism Awards. Continental Reinsurance Plc is pleased to announce the 12th edition of the Pan-African Re/Insurance Journalism Awards (2027) — Africa’s leading platform celebrating excellence in insurance, risk, and resilience reporting.
The Awards honour journalists who are shaping conversations around insurance and reinsurance across the continent. Entries are invited from print, online, broadcast, and social media journalists who have published work in English, French, or Arabic.
New from 2026: Best Re/Insurance Social Media Entry — recognising digital creators using social platforms to make insurance stories more accessible and engaging.
Eligibility
To qualify, entries must have been published or broadcast between 1st February 2026 and 31st January 2027. Detailed submission guidelines and entry requirements are available on the Awards webpage.

Awards and Prizes
Winners will receive certificates, trophies, and cash prizes in recognition of outstanding journalism that advances understanding of insurance and reinsurance across Africa.
Prize Structure
- Overall Winner: USD 2,000
- Category Winners: USD 1,500 each
- 1st Runners-Up: USD 1,000 each
- 2nd Runners-Up: USD 500 each
- Femi Oyetunji Future Talent Award: USD 1,500
An independent panel of judges comprising respected professionals from the media, business, and insurance sectors will evaluate all submissions based on the set criteria. The Dr. Femi Oyetunji Future Talent Award, which recognises an emerging journalist, is selected by the judges and is not open for entry.
