Applications are now open for the 2025/2027 Mark Wainberg Fellowship Programme. The Mark Wainberg Fellowship Programme, sponsored by the IAS, improves health services by training HIV physicians in Africa and Asia-Pacific to provide care that is tailored to various client groups, with a particular emphasis on stigma-free services.
The programme honours Mark Wainberg, an HIV researcher and activist who helped identify lamivudine, an important antiretroviral for HIV.
The Mark Wainberg Fellowship Programme aims to enhance HIV service delivery in Africa and Asia-Pacific. It selects clinicians from these regions to spend one year in Europe and another in Africa or Asia-Pacific, receiving comprehensive training from leading clinical institutions. This exchange between Europe, Africa and Asia-Pacific fosters the sharing of a diversity of medical perspectives, ultimately contributing to advancements in HIV service delivery and care.
