Applications are now open for the 2026 OHCHR Youth4Rights Advisory Group. The Youth4Rights Advisory Group will be established as part of the Global Alliance for Human Rights – an initiative that will bring together a multitude of actors to capture, reinforce and amplify the energy and commitment to human rights at all levels.
The Global Alliance for Human Rights is a call to bring human rights to the centre of leadership, public debate, and people’s lives – inclusively, creatively and with determination. Anchored in the timeless aspiration of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and building towards its 80th anniversary in 2028, the Global Alliance will connect people, create spaces for dialogue, and pool engagement and resources across regions, sectors and generations to deliver concrete action.
Requirements
The Youth4Rights Advisory Group will be composed of twelve young people with consideration of gender, age, geographic, ethnic, and cultural balance. They will be selected based on the following eligibility criteria:
- 18-28 years old (as of 12 August 2026).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience contributing to the advancement of human rights or a related cause, at the local or national level.
- English language proficiency (working level).
The call is open to a variety of young people, including advocates, entrepreneurs, and innovators driving change. Human rights specific expertise is not required.
Time Commitment
- Members of the Youth4Rights Advisory Group will be expected to dedicate around eight hours per month for their duties.
- The mandate of the Youth4Rights Advisory Group will initially run from 12 August 2026 until 31 December 2027, with the possibility of extension until December 2028.
Benefits
- Members of the Youth4Rights Advisory Group will exercise their role on a voluntary basis (without remuneration).
- Travel expenses for their participation in the events and activities of the Global Alliance for Human Rights will be fully covered.
