Applications are now open for the AU–EU Youth Voices Lab – Power of the Collective for young filmmakers programme. The AU–EU Youth Voices Lab – Power of the Collective is launching a rolling recruitment campaign to build a diverse database of emerging filmmakers across Africa and Europe. This opportunity is open to creatives aged 18-35. Selected filmmakers will join a pre-vetted network and be engaged on a project basis to document youth-led advocacy, community impact, and social transformation.
Participants will produce short documentaries (3–15 minutes), social media edits, and event highlights that amplify the voices of young people driving change in their communities. These stories will contribute to cross-continental dialogue and visibility. Filmmakers will receive grants ranging from €765 to €1800 per project, along with opportunities to collaborate with international partners and expand their professional portfolio.

- Burkina Faso, Burundi, Belgium, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, South Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe
Project Goal
- Young people and youth-led groups and networks effectively advocate their concerns and priorities at various levels, including local, national, continental, and cross-continental, and around the AU-EU partnership in Africa.
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal filmmaker should possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Must be 18-35 years old at the time of beginning the assignment.
- Proven track in filming human impact/project impact stories/documentaries, and outdoor events/activities with a focus on youth-centered content.
- Proficiency in camera operation, sound capture, and editing.
- Must have all the necessary tools and equipment to carry out the assignment.
- Should be able to provide technical support, including guidance on storytelling techniques, narrative structure, and effective approaches to convey the stories.
- Availability to travel.
- Familiarity with the AU-EU Youth Voices Lab programme or similar youth engagement initiatives is an added advantage.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to incorporate feedback effectively.
BUDGET AND PAYMENT SCHEDULE
- Upon being engaged, Restless Development will provide a maximum budget of765 – 1800 EUR per project activity, per filmmaker, for the successful completion of the deliverables outlined in these Terms of Reference.
- Each filmmaker will issue an invoice to Restless Development in line with the delivery of agreed outputs and the expected level of quality. Payment will be made as follows:
- 50% of the total budget at the start of the production.
- The remaining 50% will be paid upon satisfactory completion and acceptance of the agreed deliverables.
- All payments will be subject to satisfactory progress and approval by Restless Development, in line with agreed timelines and quality expectations.
