The African Women in Energy and Power (AWEaP), in partnership with the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Energy Resources, and Winrock International through the Accelerating Women’s Empowerment in Energy (AWEE) program and with the support of Sasol, is proud to announce the launch of its groundbreaking Just Energy Transition (JET) Skills Development Programme – Entrepreneur Master Class.
Masterclass Date: February 11-13, 2025,
The masterclass is designed to equip South African entrepreneurs with the skills, knowledge, and networks needed to navigate and innovate within the evolving energy landscape.
Programme Details
- Operators, managers and leaders in electricity utilities – to build capacity for business innovation for the Just Energy Transition, micro–economy resuscitation and advance inclusivity through preferential procurement policy reform
- Entrepreneurs – to understand emerging value chains and identify areas of entry, business diversification or expansion
- Community Leaders – to understand the evolving policy and how it impacts their communities and to participate in Social Safeguarding programmes for infrastructure development
- Unemployed youth, women and persons with disability – to identify potential employment opportunities and gain skills to participate in emerging value chains
The AWEE Program is funded by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Energy Resources and the U.S. Gender Equity and Equality Action Fund implemented by Winrock International. The program aims to increase the participation of women in South Africa’s energy workforce by addressing barriers to the entry, promotion, and retention of women in South Africa’s clean energy sector. Sasol’s support for the programme underscores their commitment to fostering inclusivity and empowering local entrepreneurs to contribute meaningfully to South Africa’s energy future.
