The Government of the People’s Republic of China has placed at the disposal of UNESCO for the academic year 2016-2017, under the co-sponsorship of UNESCO, seventy-five (75) fellowships for advanced studies at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. These fellowships are for the benefit of developing Member States in Africa, Asia–Pacific, Latin America, Europe and North America and Arab region.

The fellowships, tenable at a selected number of Chinese universities, are for a duration of one year. These fellowships, are in most cases to be conducted in English. In exceptional cases, candidates may be required to study Chinese language before taking up research/study in their fields of interest.

Qualifications Required

  • Be under 45 and hold at least the Bachelor’s Degree or the equivalent, or the Master Degree/above when applying
  • English proficiency is required
  • Be not more than 45 years of age; and
  • Be in good health, both physically and mentally

Benefits

Facilities offered by the Government of the People’s Republic of China

  • A Monthly living allowance of CNY 3,000 for general scholars or CNY 3,500 for senior scholars will be granted covering meals and pocket expenses;

  • Accommodation: free university dormitory or accommodation subsidy; if the host university require students to live on campus, the university will accommodate scholarship students in university dormitory (usually twin room)

  • A Monthly Pocket Allowance of USD 150 Dollars
  • A termination allowance of USD 200 to cover excess luggage charges at time of fellows’ return to their home Country, in addition to the living allowance granted by the Government of the People’s Republic of China

  • Letters of nominations and originals of the applications should be addresses in duplicate to Mr Stoyan Bantchev, Chief of the Participation Programme and Fellowship Section, 7 Place de Fontenoy, 75352 Paris 07 SP, France and reach UNESCO imperatively by 20 May 2016 at the least.
