YALI Courses
The Young African Leadership Initiative (YALI) Network provides virtual resources and vibrant physical spaces to equip young African leaders with the skills and connections they need to foster change in their communities and their countries. Established by the President in April 2014, the Network already includes more than 68,000 members.
Massive open online courses – or MOOCS – give anyone with Internet access the opportunity to take top-rated university courses for free.
Virtual training, tools, and technology for the YALI Network.

YALI Network members will have access to an array of online courses and training materials, along with virtual mentoring and networking opportunities.

  • Over 20 Curated MOOCs and 60 facilitated MOOC Camps: YALI Network members are able to access more than 20 Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and will be offered 60 facilitated courses in MOOC Camps in YALI Spaces across the continent over the coming year.
  • Tailored web training videos:

    The YALI Network platform will also provide access to tailor-made training videos on leadership, business and entrepreneurship, civic leadership, and public management featuring U.S. university professors and experts in their field. The training videos provide tips on everything from creating a business model to developing public-private partnerships, with supplementary guides with discussion questions and developmental actions.

3 Steps to Online Learning:
  1. Register for a YALI Network account.
  2. Complete one of the YALI Network courses below by watching, listening to or reading the three lectures associated with each course.
  3. Earna YALI Network Certificate by passing the quizzes after each lecture and the test after each course.

Business and Entrepreneurship Course

1776 Co-Founder Evan Burfield breaks down the basics of starting and growing a business including how to develop a great pitch. Complete all three lecture quizzes and pass the test to earn a YALI Network Certificate in Business and Entrepreneurship.

Civic Leadership Course

Independent NGO Consultant Hilary Binder-Aviles offers practical advice for running an effective NGO including how to draft and implement work plans. Complete all three lecture quizzes and pass the test to earn a YALI Network Certificate in Civic Leadership.

Public Management Course

Dr. Eric Bing, a Senior Fellow in Global Health with the George W. Bush Institute and a Professor of Global Health at Southern Methodist University, describes a successful public-private partnership. Complete all three lecture quizzes and pass the test to earn a YALI Network Certificate in Public Management.

Leadership Course

Dr. D. Christopher Kayes, a Professor of Management at George Washington University, presents basic leadership concepts including the differences between leadership and management. Complete all three lecture quizzes and pass the test to earn a YALI Network Certificate in Leadership.

  1. Africa needs young leaders who must put it in development’s way. This initiative done by US department stays the only way to help Africa to grow culture of development accompagned by democratic culture.

  2. i want to join yali network but every time i try its says the page i’m looking for is not fund. i now don’t know what to do. i also don’t know how to regigister, if you just first help me with that.

  3. I try several time to connect with y’all but everytime I go through the course you mention it is not found tell me what to do.

  4. I have taken five online YALI courses which includes;
    1. Strengthening public sector service
    2. Management strategies for people and resources
    3. Workforce collaboration and Development
    4. Responsible leadership on Transparency and good governance
    5.Basics in Public private partnership
    but has only received two certificates which are;
    number 4 and five.

    can you please help me with the other three.
