Applications are now open for the 2026 FAO Young Forest Champions Initiative. Open to youth in Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Peru, Uganda, and Zambia, this initiative aims to empower young leaders to drive transformative forest conservation efforts.
Through mentorship opportunities, capacity development, and the use of advanced technologies like remote sensing, participants will gain the skills to restore forests, monitor ecosystems, and protect vital landscapes.
Building on its success in Kenya, the initiative is now expanding, offering young people across other countries the platform to drive meaningful change in their communities and beyond.
Ten young leaders per country will be selected to join a dynamic network shaping the future of forests and building climate resilience in their communities and beyond!
Eligibility requirements
To apply, you must:
- Be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of application.
- Be a current university student or recent graduate.
- Reside in Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Peru, Uganda, or Zambia.
- Have an intermediate or higher proficiency in English.
- Have a reliable internet connection to participate in the initiative.
- Commit to full participation in the initiative activities throughout 2026.
