Applications are now open for the 2026 Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) Next Gen/Campus Reporter Program. The Next Gen/Campus Reporter project of the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID) is calling on high-flying campus journalists, mass communication students, and recent graduates to apply for a 3-month internship placement with mainstream media organizations in Nigeria. This initiative is designed to foster mentorship, encourage networking, and build confidence while equipping selected participants with the skills and experiences necessary for a successful career in journalism.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Open to campus journalists who have practiced journalism on campus and demonstrated sufficient skill but are not mass communication students
- Must have graduated from a tertiary institution and be awaiting NYSC, or be a Mass Communication SIWES candidate
- Must be available full-time for a minimum of 3 months before commencing NYSC, or have at least 3 months available for SIWES or 6 months graduate internship
- Must have published at least 2 high-quality accountability reports on the Campus Reporter website
- Must identify a reputable media organization in your locality and obtain contact details for the Managing Editor/Director.
PS: CJID will only pair interns with reputable newsrooms.
