Applications are now open for the 2025 Developing Engineering Leaders through Her (DELT-Her) Initiative. Developing Engineering Leaders Through Her (DELT-Her) is an initiative that seeks to create opportunities for women in engineering, by attracting and supporting innovative engineering ideas which would ultimately be mentored and developed into startup companies. The success stories from the first phase of this initiative would be projected to enthuse school-age girls across the country, with the aim of creating a paradigm shift to favor their choice of engineering as a lifelong career. DELT-Her is inspired by global projects from the Anita Borg Institute, Girl Up! at the UN Foundation, Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia among others.
Requirements
- The program welcomes Nigerian women with engineering ideas who hold at least a bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent.
Application Requirement
- Lead applicants shall be female Nigerians who have attained a minimum of first degree, and have innovative engineering ideas.
- The initiative targets young females aged 23 to 45 years who have developed a proposal on innovative ideas in engineering and have set up a team for the implementation of the ideas.
- Each team shall however be constituted of at least 60% female participants, to qualify for funding under this initiative.
Selection Criteria
- Applicants are evaluated based on various factors, including alignment of their proposal with the program’s objectives.
- The selection committee carefully reviews each application to assess the applicant’s potential for success in the program
