Uganda Press Photo Award Annual Photography Contest 2016 for Ugandan Photojournalists and Photographers.

Submission Deadline: September 1st 2016

The 5^th Edition of the Uganda Press Photo Award annual photo contest is officially open for your submissions and we wish to invite all Ugandan photojournalists and photographers to participate by submitting their best images.

Submission, as always is done online to 7 categories: News, Daily Life, Creative, Portrait, Sports, Nature & Story. Please read the rules and submission guidelines carefully before you submit your images.

The overall winner will receive the grand prize of a CANON EOS 7D MARK II DSLR camera sponsored by Canon. There will be other prizes for the runners up.

The Uganda Press Photo Award is a platform for people interested in photography and seeking to record the visual history of this country, to showcase their craft. These are hardworking Ugandans who sometimes take great risk so the rest of us can stay informed about what is happening.

The award aims to promote the best of today’s photojournalism in Uganda as well as encouraging a new generation of photographers. It also seeks to remind the viewing public of the importance of a vibrant press for democratic development.

Conceived by the Foreign Correspondents’ Association of Uganda and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung.

Benefits

• The winner of the main prize, the Uganda Press Photo of the Year Award, receives a CANON sponsored EOS 7D MARK II DSLR camera. A prize we hope can provide them with the right tools, enabling them to continue their work and hone their skills.
• The Organizers also offer support to other participants who win in the different categories with prizes that we believe can lighten their load as photojournalists.
• There are also photography workshops organized through the year with the support of the Foreign Correspondents’ Association of Uganda, with members who are internationally recognized photographers, offering to take on the trainings.
• The Organizers also offer portfolio reviews, film screenings and discussions on subject matter pertinent to growth of the craft.
