NNPC/TOTAL National Merit Scholarship Scheme 2017/2018 for Nigerian students in Tertiary Institutions

Application Deadline: October 31, 2017.

Total Upstream Nigeria Limited (TUPNI), in pursuance of its Corporate Social Responsibility, invites applications from suitably qualified Nigerians for the 2017/2018 National Merit Scholarship.

Annually, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and Total Upstream Companies in Nigeria (TUCN): Total Exploration & Production Nigeria Limited (Total E&P Nig Ltd) and Total Upstream Nigeria Limited (TUPNI), together with their venture partners, award scholarships to deserving Nigerian students in the tertiary institutions in the country.

The programme is aimed at promoting academic excellence and quality manpower development in the Country. This is one of the many ways TOTAL demonstrates its commitment to the educational development of Nigerian students. It is a part of NNPC/TOTAL’s rich Corporate Social Responsibility.

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Be a Registered FULL TIME undergraduate in a recognized Nigerian University
  2. Be a certified 100 or 200 level student at the time of application
  3. Show proof of SSCE or Equivalent Certificate.
  4. Show proof of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) score.
  5. Show proof of Admission letter from the University and Matriculation Number
  6. Show proof of A-level or Equivalent Certificate (for direct entry students)


  • Students with less than 200 score in UTME need not apply
  • Students with less than 2.50 CGPA of 5-point scale, or equivalent
  • 300 level students and above need not apply
  • Current beneficiaries of similar awards from the oil industry need not apply.

How to Apply:

1. Personal Information: Enter your name, date of birth and permanent home address Upload your recent passport photograph.

2. Contact Information: Enter your email and mobile phone information. Only use an active email and mobile phone number.

3. Origin: Enter your state and local government of origin data. You are required to upload a certificate or proof of origin from your local government or state.

4. University Information: Select your university, course and year of study. You will be required to upload your JAMB/University admission letter.

5. Result Information: Input your JAMB score or CPGA. You are required to upload your JAMB statement of result and university CPGA. For year two medical students, your JAMB score suffices.

6. Review Application: Review your application ensure all fields have been correctly entered. Upload all the documents required:

  • Recent Passport Photograph
  • Certificate or Proof of Origin
  • Senior Secondary Certificate of Education (SSCE)
  • UTME result
  • JAMB/University Admission Letter
  • 1st Year Result showing CGPA

7. Conclusion: Attest that all info given is true. Accept terms and condition. On screen alert will confirm that you have successfully completed the application. You will receive an email to confirm this too.

The following amount shall apply to the National Merit Scholarships Scheme

  1. hello admin what if you get admitted through Direct entry, u didn’t ever sat for JAMB/UTME. then what would u put in jamb score field?

  2. goodmorning sir am mohd jamiu i try to register for this scholarship but after completing the form it tells me that An error prevented the entry for this form submission being saved. Please contact support. pleas whats happening i try it with diferent computer but it still tell me an erro.

  3. admin what of the direct entry student ,,that have certificate of university to show that they have graduated ,,and didn’t write jamb.pls we don’t hve jamb and year 1 result. We only have our certificate

  4. I registered but confirmation was not sent to my email , I was checking thru all days but still not yet sent then I decided to apply again maybe it will be sent yet still not sent. I check my email d next day but to be surprised I received confirmation on the two application I did showing two diff. Candidate ID. Pls which one will I make use of?

    How do we get notify about the exam date and venue or even know if we are shortlisted for the exam?

  6. Please,I was shortlisted for the scholarship exam,but up till now ,I have not received an email telling me I was shortlisted,I only received an SMS,I wish that the email should be resend to me please so that I can print it out

  7. I just received a mail that was supposed to inform me that I had been shortlisted. I missed the exam unfortunately. Upon seeing the mail,I replied immediately,requesting for a reschedule.I know how much this means to me.Please help me with any advise possible.Thank you!
