Applications are now open for the 2026 West Africa Fusion Artist Residency Programme. The West Africa Fusion Artist Residency, a high-impact program designed to foster creative collaboration, cultural dialogue and professional development among artists from Ghana and other West African countries.
Each year, the Residency will provide a dynamic platform for creation within one or more of the following sectors: music, fashion, audiovisual and visual arts. The different editions will be guided by a specific theme, exploring a range of topics including but not limited to, cultural heritage, sustainability, and other topics relevant to the region.
The program also promotes interdisciplinary collaboration through curated opportunities for technical assistance on crosscutting professional topics, creating platforms for peer learning, capacity building and, where relevant, creative collaboration.
Objectives:
The specific objectives of the assignment are to:
- Support the design of a coherent and contextually relevant West Africa Fusion Artist Residency, aligned with the objectives of the SANKOFA II project;
- Foster creative collaboration, cultural dialogue and professional development among artists from West Africa;
- Ensure the integration of the selected residency thematic area within the Residency framework;
- Guarantee clarity and transparency in key program components including selection procedures;
- Promote the visibility and dissemination of the Residency and its results in line with project and donor requirements.
Required Profile
- Proven experience in artistic curation and program development in one or more of the following fields: music, fashion, audiovisual and visual arts;
- Demonstrated experience in implementing multidisciplinary artistic programs, residencies or similar initiatives involving artists;
- Strong knowledge of Ghana’s cultural and creative sector, as well as contemporary artistic and creative practices across the West African region;
- Established professional networks and demonstrated experience engaging artists, cultural institutions, and creative industry stakeholders in Ghana and across West Africa;
- Ability to translate artistic vision into structured, feasible and results-oriented programmatic frameworks;
- Strong organizational, coordination and project management skills;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of French is highly desirable and will be considered an asset;
- Experience working on donor-funded programs and international cooperation projects is an advantage.
Submission Procedure:
The expert is required to submit both a technical and financial proposal no later than June 22nd 2026 at 23:59 GMT, including the following elements:
● A methodological note (2 – 3 pages maximum) outlining the understanding of the assignment and the proposed approach
● The CV of the expert involved in the assignment
● A detailed budget corresponding to the different phases of the assignment

Proposals will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
● Technical proposal (70%)
○ Qualifications and experience of the experts (40%)
○ Quality and relevance of the methodological approach (30%)
● Financial Proposal (30%)
○ Cost-effectiveness and coherence of the proposed budget in relation to the assignment’s level of effort and deliverables
