Call for Nomination: 2015 UNESCO International Literary Prize for Innovation in Literacy.

Nomination Deadline: May 25th 2015
Since 1967, UNESCO International Literacy Prizes have rewarded excellence and innovation in the field of literacy. Over 460 projects and programmes undertaken by governments, non-governmental organizations and individuals around the world have been recognized. Through these prestigious Prizes, UNESCO seeks to support effective literacy practices and encourages the promotion of dynamic literate societies.
Every year, the prizes are organized around a specific theme. This year’s focus is on: “Literacy and the post-2015 agenda
The UNESCO International Literacy Prizes are:
With the support of the Government of the Republic of Korea
UNESCO King Sejong Literacy Prize (2 awards): Supporting the development and use of mother-
tongue literacy education and training With the support of the Government of the People’s Republic of China
UNESCO-Confucius Prize for Literacy (3 awards)
Supporting literacy in rural areas, for rural adults and out-of school youth, particularly women and girls
Candidatures should take into account this year’s theme, ‘Literacy and the post-2015 agenda’, while also considering the specificity of each Prize.
Call for applications
  • Every year, Member States and International Non-Governmental Organizations maintaining official relations with UNESCO are invited to solicit and submit nominations for the UNESCO International Literacy Prizes.
Eligibility:
  • Institutions, organizations and individuals promoting literacy through effective and innovative projects or programmes
Timeline:
  • Until 25 May 2015: Submission of Nomination Form
  • June 2015: International Jury Meeting
  • July 2015: Announcement of the Prize Winners
  • 8 September 2015: Award ceremony
